Mountain Brook Holiday Parade
Due to the weather this past weekend, the parade was rescheduled for Sunday, the 15th.
Spain Park Marching Competition
The overall band performance received a superior rating that included a I for visual performance and visual general effect, a II for music performance and music general effect, a I for percussion, a I for drum major, a I for color guard, and a I for dance line.
Additional awards were given for each classification based on number of wind players. For class, 2A, Daniel Bolus was selected as outstanding drum major, our percussion was selected as the best percussion section, our colorguard won best colorguard, and the Dorians won best dance line. We also ranked 2nd place in class 2A and 3rd place overall in the small band division.
This is the 2nd year that Spain Park has hosted this event. The judging is criterion referenced based on standards established by the Central States Judging Association, which is a nationally respected organization dedicated to the education and evolution of the marching band performing arts. The adjudication panel for Spain park consisted of 9 judges from throughout the eastern U.S. The adjudication categories were music performance/ensemble, music general effect, percussion, visual performance/ensemble, visual general effect, drum major, auxiliary-guard, auxiliary-dance.

Parking for Concession Stand: Until construction is complete, try parking in the small lot by the back soccer fields (turn left @ the guard hut) or near the band practice field.

New York Results
At the New York Heritage Festival, the symphonic band received all superior ratings and was awarded 2nd place in their classification. Members of the Jazz ensemble received 3rd place in their classification.
Back in January, members of the Mountain Brook High School Band held a unique fund-raiser for their New York trip. "Feed the Need" helped the band earn money by packing meals for children in Haiti. In the day-long event, band members packed a total of 10,000 meals.
Mountain Brook High School was the only school representing Alabama.

The symphonic band performed in the Alabama Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment Festival, February 28th. Great performance!

The band received a superior score and third place in their division. The band also received an award for superior field commander.
In addition you would all be proud of the way in which the band has conducted themselves.
